Retinal or retinol — what is the difference?
Retinal is one step closer to the active form your skin uses, so it works faster at the same strength. It is also slightly more irritating.
How often should I use it at first?
Twice a week for the first fortnight, then every other night, then nightly if comfortable. Building up slowly is not optional with retinal.
Do I need sunscreen?
Every morning, without exception. Retinoids make skin more sun-sensitive, and skipping SPF undoes the work.
Is peeling normal?
Light flaking in the first two weeks is common. Sheet-like peeling or soreness is not — stop for a few days and restart less often.
Can I use it while pregnant?
No. Retinoids are not recommended in pregnancy. Bakuchiol alone would be, but this contains retinal too.
